About the Festival
This is for the first-time that Sangrur, a sleepy town near Patiala and Nabha, became hub of literary activities with the hosting of Sangrur Heritage & Literary Festival from 20-22 November 2015.
Nearly 24 authors from various parts of the country came and participated in the event, including folk artists and performers.
The highlights of the Festival included :
a. Performance by Padmashri Bhai Nirmal Singh ji Hazoori Ragi at the Baradari, Banasar Bagh on the first day.
b. Homage to the founders of Jind state at the Shahi Samadhaan
c. Khula Durbar by famous painter from Delhi, Sidharth.
d. Main literary sessions at another century old campus of General Gurnam Singh Public School.
e. Workshop Sessions on Painting by Sidharth, calligraphy by Kamaljeet Kaur, photography and digital art by Sandeep and Mandeep, Story writing by Suditi Jindal.
f. Recognition of Sporting and Adventure Icons of Sangrur
g. Release of book by Dr. Rajmohan Gandhi, Capt Amarinder Singh, Dr Shivdev Singh Sidhu
h. Musical presentation on Panjab's folk musical instruments at the Inaugural
i. Performances by the band of the legendary 13th Punjab Regiment (Jind)
j. Folk Performance by Rajasthan's "Tera Bandhani" at the concluding
k. Live coverage of the entire festival by PTC News, and print media support
l. Exhibition of antiques and artifacts of Jind State by Ashwani Chaudhary and Bhardwaj
